Making Butter Long Ago

Posted by: dkinsella6807 | November 5, 2014 | No Comment |

We learned about making butter long ago. The stages were as follows;

Firstly the farmer milked the cow using his hands. He gathered the milk in a bucket. He sat on a stool while doing this very tiring job.

Secondly he put the milk into a butter churn and turned the churn round and round until the milk turned into butter.

Next he used his butter pats to shape the butter.

Finally he put the butter in the fridge. It was ready to eat!

We made butter in class today. We used fresh cream and a clean jam jar. We shook the jam jar until the cream turned to butter. Everyone got a turn shaking the jam jar. Everybody tasted the butter on a cream cracker!20141105_133833 20141105_133846 20141105_133904 20141105_134508
